Australian Aboriginal painted shells, Tiwi artist, Milingimbi. Painted in traditional Tiwi rarrk designs. The Tiwi Islands of Bathurst and Melville sit in the Arafura Sea about 45 minutes by air north of the Australian mainland. Milingimbi, on the mainland coast is also a Tiwi community.

Shells are harvested by residents and decorated with designs that had their origin thousands of years ago. In this way, they become a source of income for the artists that sell them as souvenirs to Tiwi Islands visitors. Authenticity Guaranteed.
