Australian Aboriginal painted shell from Munupi Arts and Crafts Association, Melville Island, one of two sister Tiwi Islands in the Arafura Sea, about 45 minutes by small aircraft north of Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory.

The Aborigines in residence on the Tiwi Islands are Australians through and through but of a different tribal lineage from those on the mainland.
