Walkabout pottery kangaroo with Aboriginal dot-painted designs, #AGPG68 ~ 4" x 4"

$40.00

Pottery figure, kiln-fired kangaroo effigy, molded by Walkabout in Alice Springs, NT, Australia, painted by native Aborigines using traditional indigenous dot technique.

This is not purely an indigenous product. The basic figure is molded, kiln-fired pottery created by non-native firm named “Walkabout”. The Aboriginal contribution is painting in traditional designs by Aboriginal women. We opt to call them “hybrids” and classify them as Australian Aboriginal art.

Kangaroos and their cousins, wallabies, are native to Australia and are found in abundance in the Australian outback. They are marsupials and are as symbolic of the continent and country as any animal.
