Australian Indigenous Art

"Birthing of the Turtles" Australia/Great Lakes, Aboriginal dot painting, by Loretta McDonald/Worimi #AGKA31 ~ 23" x 23"

$850.00

Aboriginal art dot painting, Australia/Great Lakes, Worimi. "Birthing of the Turtles",
acrylic on canvas by Loretta McDonald. This is a Westernized variation, 4 swimming turtles, in traditional Aboriginal indigenous dot technique.

Worimi traditional lands are north of Sydney, in area known for its abundance of lakes and called the Great Lakes. Because of its proximity to early urban settlement of British settlers, the art reflects European influences, such as the graphic elements in this nature-lover's depiction.

We acquired this authentic work of Australian indigenous Aboriginal art at Tobwabba Gallery of Adelaide, South Australia in September 2001.
